Alicia Hicks

Alicia Hicks has served as the Office Manager of Cardiac Center of Texas since April 2010. Alicia comes to us with over 20 years experience in the healthcare industry in the areas of radiology, neurology, orthopedics and cardiology. Prior to joining Cardiac Center of Texas, Alicia served as the Administrator of several outpatient diagnostic imaging centers. Alicia is supremely patient-driven and guides her team to ensure that each patient receives the utmost in care. Alicia promotes a strong commitment to individualized treatment and is proud to be a part of a leading team in Cardiology.

 

Stacey Fuller

Stacey Fuller has been with The Cardiac Center of Texas since 2008 as the Billing Specialist. She came to us with over ten years of billing experience and has been a great asset to the Cardiac Center of Texas. Stacey is a native McKinney resident who knows and loves a lot of our patients and treats them with the utmost respect. She is willing to help out anyone at any time no matter what the situation may be. Stacey also has a strong love for dogs and has started her own pet sitting business on the side.

 

Jabeen

Jabeen is from Pakistan where she practiced as a medical doctor. She has been with Cardiac Center of Texas since 2000. She assists Dr. Khan directly with your care and is very dedicated to meeting the needs of all our patients. Jabeen is also responsible for scheduling all hospital procedures.

 

 

Ambreen Ashfaque

Ambreen Ashfaque, M.D. came on board with Cardiac Center of Texas in December of 2010 but has been around the clinic since 2003.  She is a graduate of Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan.  She then attended UT Southwestern Medical School where she did her internship and residency.  Dr. Ashfaque recently became certified by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine adding this to her list of professional accomplishments. Dr. Ashfaque sees patients in our clinic as well as performing the vein procedures for Vein Clinic of Texas here in our office.

 

Dr. Akram Khan

Dr. Khan has been practicing cardiology in McKinney and Allen Texas area since 1997. He completed his cardiology fellowship as well as interventional cardiology fellowship at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He is board certified in cardiovascular medicine, interventional cardiology and hospice & palliative medicine. Dr. Khan is also certified by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine.

Since 1997, he has been actively involved in cardiovascular patient care. He has been very instrumental in the McKinney Medical Center and developed a separate cardiology section there in 1999. He was the first Chief of Cardiology at Medical Center of McKinney. He also was the Chief of Medicine at Presbyterian Hospital of Allen in 2003. He has been involved in other medical centers in the area including Centennial Medical Center in Frisco, Medical Center of Plano and The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano.

 

Dr. Khan is also a member of the following organizations:

Texas Medical Association, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, International Society of Endovascular Specialists, American College of Phlebology, and Association of Clinical Research Professionals. He is also selected as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention.

Since 1997, Dr. Khan has been practicing both noninvasive as well as interventional cardiology. On the interventional cardiology front, he has brought new technology, techniques, and new devices to his practice to enhance service to his patients. Of note, he was the first cardiologist in Collin County to deploy a drug-eluting stent in 2003. He is well-equipped and skilled in all kinds of coronary and peripheral intervention.

His expertise in peripheral vascular disease includes minimally invasive surgical treatment of carotid artery stenosis, peripheral vascular disease, and abdominal aortic aneurysm endovascular treatment.

On the noninvasive side, he also has state-of-the-art equipment in his office which makes it possible to do a comprehensive cardiac evaluation under one roof. Other services offered in the office include echocardiograms (ultrasound of the heart), stress tests, EKG, and pacemaker analysis. Presently he has a new device called EECP which is meant to treat chronic angina and congestive heart failure.

In 2006 he brought Cardiac Computed Tomography – CT technology in his office. This revolutionary technology is able to perform angiography of the heart which is totally non-invasive and office based.This 64-slice Siemen CT machine also enables the physician to perform heart scans and screen for heart attack and the early detection of Coronary Artery Disease.

Dr. Khan is actively involved in clinical research and has been conducting research in his practice since 2002. He established the North Dallas Research Associates. He has done several clinical trials in the past and is currently doing several trials at the McKinney location.
